Firstly, let me caveat that I am not against charities. I have been a member of the British Legion for many years; I support Macmillan nurses and a local hospice. I will also sponsor any kids or adults taking part is an organised walk, swim or other endurance activity. Charity is good for the soul and I believe in giving to those in need.
However, at least once a week I get a small plastic bag through my letterbox asking me to donate any unwanted clothes, matching shoes or other bric-a-brac to some charity or another that I have never heard of.
I do donate my unwanted clothes by placing them in a metal clothes bank when they aren’t full.
If one of these letterbox charities ever asked me for a bunch of small plastic bags that they could use to place unwanted clothes, matching shoes or other bric-a-brac into I would be able to give them a dozen or more that have been posted through my letterbox by some charity or another that I have never heard of.
